(1) Support Blooming Grove Republican Ticket
To The Editor,
As my fellow Blooming Grove residents make their way to the polls next month, I ask them to consider the never-ending cycle of tax and spend economics fanatically practiced in New York. Merely looking at your tax bill will show you why so many of our neighbors are leaving the state; and I for one, find it reprehensible.
In January 2015 the town government portion of the tax bill increased by 9.5 percent. This, as our school, county and town taxes are already ranked at near or actually the highest in the nation. So what are we to do?
Vote! We need to elect officials who can manage our finances without raising taxes every time the wind blows. Elect people who will break the cycle of Albany economics and find ways to invest in our community that will attract more business rather than repel both jobs and residents.
Look past the smoke and mirrors that brings low to no tax hikes just in time for the elections. Status quo is killing New York. Break the cycle. Elect Kathy Wells-Calhoun, Mark Levy and George KyDon; re-elect Darlena Decker-Gever and John Dolson.
Michael De Luca, Salisbury Mills
(2) Standing Behind Conservative Endorsements
To The Editor,
The Blooming Grove Conservative Committee is proud to announce its endorsements for the upcoming local elections in the Town of Blooming Grove. After meeting several candidates and discussing their goals for our community, we are officially endorsing the following individuals: Kathy Wells-Calhoun for Town Supervisor, Mark Levy and George KyDon for Town Council, Darlena Decker-Geyer for Town Clerk, and John Dolson for Town Highway Superintendent. These candidates exhibit the values important in a truly representative government, for the people and by the people. We wish them anticipated success and encourage our fellow neighbors to exercise their Constitutional right to vote on November 3rd!
As a matter of ‘housekeeping’, we also wish to clarify a few facts relating to the November ballot. For the Conservative line, you will see the name Brandon Nielsen appearing as the Conservative candidate, which requires a “write in” for our endorsed candidate. This is the result of a tie-breaking vote issued by a judge, and the Blooming Grove Conservative Committee does not endorse Mr. Nielsen for the position of Town Supervisor or any other elected positions. We stand firmly behind our endorsements – a technicality does not qualify an individual to run for office under a party line, their actions do.
